Faults indicated (x2) Exhaust Cam & Radiator Fan - Any thoughts?

Post by AL0500 » Fri Aug 25, 2017 7:16 am

Hi RS246 Forum members,

I have two faults on the car and thought one of the community may have some suggestions/comments. I do thank anyone in advance > appreciated.

1. Code 04183 - Bank1; Exhaust Cam Adjustment Circuit: Open Circuit P1057 No signal/No communication

2. Code 06481 - Radiator Fan 2 (V177): Movement Restricted/Jammed P1951 Lower Limit Reached - Intermittent

A bit of history, I have been away for some time and left the car with my mechanic (long time friend) to change the spark plugs. I note since picking the car up I have the above two errors. I am embarrassed to mention I am not overly technical when it comes to cars (love them but wouldn't know a bonnet from a trunk/boot...! ha ha)

- Thought I might understand this a little better for my own benefit before taking back to get resolved...?

- The fans are all working and the vehicle is not over heating etc... when the fault is cleared I note upon the next start up the fault appears again

- Would I be correct in assuming a sensor for the Exhaust cam may have been possibly disturbed when changing spark plugs?

Regards
Adam

It may well have been unplugged then missed on reassembly. Have to admit that I spent 10 minutes or so searching the rights side of my engine compartment looking for the piece of loom that should have connected to a sensor. It had dropped down behind the head and it was only after I'd got the air filter box and throttle pipe in place that I thought 'hang on - what fits there?'
My car now throwing a 01314 code may not be unconnected (no pun intended).

[edit]Which it wasn't - it was a near flat battery, now sorted
