Modern Classics Magazine feature on Supersaloons

Post by stevo55 » Sun Jun 11, 2017 6:39 pm

A while back I posted about my old C6 being featured in Modern Classics Magazine. Anyways the feature is now out and for those too lazy to go and buy a copy here are the relevant parts!
Can't say I agree with some of the comments on the C6 such as it feels dead unless it's at 10/10ths, it's a very characterful beast and very 'raw' as we all know. The comment on the pure power and speed is bang on though! The pricing is very skewiff though and not reflective of current market figures. I don't know many people who would fork out £40k for a 'concours' one and high 20's/early 30's is the rough marker of a good example imo (I paid £29k for the one featured and that was in April 2016 with 58k on the clock and a car back Milltek). As for the 'Need To Know' the oil leak isn't mentioned and they focus on failing DRC which to my knowledge isn't an issue on the C6?
Anyway it was good to see the old girl again (hope the new owner is loving it as much as I did) and good to have an official lasting memory of OY59 MXG -gone but definitely not forgotten!

Good read, got my copy last week. Needs to be more glossy though.

Modern Classics is a decent mag IMO, subscribed a while back loads of interesting cars in it.

As an ex-C5 owner I know the "need to know" section is talking about the C5 RS6 by mistake, someone didn't do a very good job there!
