Finally found a nice example to start playing with. Dyno vid.

Post by CHEQUERED » Fri May 19, 2017 11:28 am

After many months of searching for a Rs6 Advant for the family, one finally came up that suited the criteria. With 35,000 miles (57000km) and zero mods we had the perfect base to plan our future mods (all fairly basic as i dont want to crack the box open atm).

We were lucky enough to have a nice 900km coastal drive on the way home from picking it up, it included some of the greatest driver roads in the country.

With a conservative target of 700hp we had our own stainless steel exhaust system built to provide a decent note under power but zero drone or boom inside, it was also paramount to pass all current emissions tests. A set of BMC filters and a custom in house tune netted 698hp (Flywheel) on basic premium unleaded pump fuel.

A bit of weakness ended in a set of V10 RS6 number plates turning up after our roadtrip.

New wheels are on the cards as the factory ones have a bit of rash from previous owners wife borrowing it for random school day duties.

Such a fun car and serves as a daily family wagon as easy as it does a weekend sports car. Can see why you guys love them so much.

Looks good! If you can re-map the gearbox software as well it really improves the drive-ability (smoother shifts, more torque available etc).

yeah its my current project, going through a few differing test strategies in it ATM.

Im being super conservative as ive seen a few posts of guys getting crazy detonation problems and killing engines when they have gone too free on the derating. There was one that popped up on another forum just before xmas that was killed through not enough temp compensation (detonation damage on pistons and excessive oil bypassing). Ive also noticed in a lot of RS6 YouTube videos that the cars are suffering quite a bit of detonation (watch the exhaust stream for small puffs)
