Hi all.
I´m a new owner of an RS6 2008, have got it for 3 weeks now and have only driven it for like 350km. Now i got the f****** oil leak from the back of the engine. Before i bought it i checked it for explicit this issue and the water pipes. I diden´t see any oil leaks around the pump / shaft etc.
Anyways just bad luck, now it´s leaking and needs to be fixed.
I have read on the forum here that in the UK the garages do the replacment of those seals without taking out the engine.
Does anyone have any input about this process ?
The problem is that here en Denmark there are no workshops with experience in this except $audi$, wicth is to expensive so i would like to find a DIY way to replace it.
I have seen a guide for replacing the water pump by removing the front and working in that way.
My idea was to work my way in this way, and remove the whole oil pump module, replace all seals on my way.
Any inputs would be appreciated.
DIY - the "known" oil leak ?
Re: DIY - the "known" oil leak ?
I would not know I think it's must be a complex process with custom made tools I would say . Just due to the time it takes to do it. But they are not going to tell you how it's done as that's how they get so much work.

I'm not so sure - I think the 'engine out' is to make access easier and let's face it, Audi aren't about to save a customer's money.
After reading this thread and having discovered mine is leaking a bit too I may well have a go myself when the weather has warmed up a bit.
Mind you, the coolant pipes need doing too so I might just bite the bullet and drop the job on somebody else.

I'm going to be getting custom coolant pipes made up to repair mine without dropping the engine but if someone has the genuine units from start to finish I could make up a complete setJim Haseltine wrote:I'm not so sure - I think the 'engine out' is to make access easier and let's face it, Audi aren't about to save a customer's money.

Re: DIY - the "known" oil leak ?
I just thought that there must be some one in the world who has done this, or has any inputs for the operation they want to share, as this is a common failure.
I have all ready bought the 2 pipes new and orginal, not that expencive. My plan was to replace the "bad" part by cutting it out and putting ind the same pice from the new ones, and put them together with coolant rubber pipes and clips. (not sure that the correct english word)
Now i will wait and see if its posible to replace the seals before replacing the pipes.
So still if anyone have any inputs please feel free to share them.
If successfull with the operations i will share some experinces from the process.

Yeah that would work I guess for temporary repair of the pipes but it rust again , I'm working on a more of a better than standard option. Without getting into it I would know how it's done . Obviously is but it won't be easy otherwise it would be audis procedure as well.
