Michelin Super Sport Advice

Post by A20LEE » Thu Sep 08, 2016 6:51 am

Just about to order a set of Michelin PSS. The ones on my tyres are FSL (rim protection) but are marked as BMW fitment? Are they ok for a C6 RS6 or should i order the more expensive non FSL?

Cheers

They are fine for the C6 mate. I'm surprised the none BMW fitment version has gone up so much in price but I'm guessing that the stock must be getting low now.

I run MPSS on mine-it was the first thing I did when I got the C6, bin the P Zeros (they were on their last legs anyway) and go for what is probably pound for pound the best performance tyre in the market. The new Pilot Sport 4 is out but unfortunately currently not in 20 inch form. That will come am sure. Amazing tyres. If you look at most of the other performance marquee such as AMG and M they have MPSS as standard.

Posted this in the 'General Chat' forum-the MPSS replacement was just released. Specs and results look excellent.

Interesting, anyone know what's the price difference between the PZero's and the 4S?

Not sure yet as it's literally only just been released. The Pilot Sport 4 wasn't available in 20'' (last time I checked) but that will come next year. The new PS4 may well go the same way. I'd choose Michelin over Pirelli all day long though. M and AMG choose them for their cars by default, not sure why Audi doesn't?

I tent to only got for n rated tyres which meet Porsches standards similar to the star on the sidewall meaning it's m sport approved and a lot of testing goes into getting it , it seems strange Audi don't have this but pilot super sports are original equipment on some of the fastest cars on the planet so it's good enough for me

Yes but I believe the Pirelli P-Zero or in specific the PNCS was developed especially for the Audi Rs6 / 7 so I assumed that they were the best, more so as it was the choice for the Grand Prix F1 year after year as well as the Superbike championships but I will definitely buy the PS4 when my one's wear out which will probably be not too long as the sheer power of this beast and the weight doesn't need long before they grind down to the rim.

This guy has done a proper review on the MPSS vs CSC6, have had MPSS on a previous A6, very nice however i noticed that the tyre shoulders would start to show faint perishing marks, now i'm in an rs6 i really dont expect to keep the tyres on longer than a year :-) so no drama but back onto topic, the video reviews the tyres on an m3, not the same i know but interesting points made, worth a squint!
