It's back!!

Post by Nosillad » Sat Nov 12, 2016 12:09 am

Well after only two weeks of ownership my RS decided to start leaving small "oil offerings" on the garage floor.

I had a Audi inspection done that came with a single email response to click here to approve 6.2k in work :audibash:
so after a little research on here I decided to wait 4 weeks for a slot at Unit 20......and I'm glad I did.

Audi mis-diagnosed the leak which turned out to be the now infamous Oil pump seal but after pulling it apart I also needed 2 new rads, both coolant pipes, upper suspension bushes, rear bump stops, water pump rebuilding and anti roll bar bushes. Suffice to say today was not a cheap day when I collected it from Liverpool but it was a darn sight cheaper than Audi and I have a lot more confidence that someone who actually knew what they were doing put it all back together again.(For anyone else considering Unit 20 I found them to live up to their reputation on here with excellent service)

After spending a week in a dsg golf I had a great blast back up north taking in the scenic routes to test the significant improvement in the refreshed suspension and finally being able to give it a decent trashing without the smell of burning oil filling the air :D

Now I can finally get round to sorting out the cosmetic stuff I had planned when I first bought it.

Well done, research pays dividends. It is a relief and joy when you get your car back in full fettle.

Nosillad you have now been inducted into the Audi RS6 group. It's the only way to get induction for this group, the infamous oil seals and coolant pipes and front suspensions, manufacture defect on the C6. Also maybe it's time you post some photos of her.

Yes,

Oil leak and coolant lines are the bane of any C6 now.. All at that age where they need doing or have been done by owners.
Also DRC is getting to that age too, a few have had lines replaced and i myself am one to have a brand new rear strut fitted, £350 for one plus fitting and a DRC refill will set you back anywhere from £500-£800 depending where you go.
Keep an eye on the shocks and pay attension to any "fluid loss" on the inner rim of the alloys.

These are great cars and will make you smile, but they are hitting the what if kinda age and we'll find out if the C6 is going to be the C5 all over again!
