Slightly old thread but thought I'd post anyway.

My drivers side lense has water droplets running down the inside and surely if there was a Workshop Action/recall, we're perfectly entitled to ask them to fix it whether it's under warranty or not? Non?

The fix was to remove the headlight, dry it out and then drill a small hole at the bottom and put a rubber bung on it.

Really wouldn't waste your time with them, it wont cure the problem, even replacing headlights the new ones will do the same.

it will just come back no matter what you do as the heat from the engine, outside temp does not help one bit, if you are thinking of/having my light conversion done then this may reduce it but its all then down to the condition of your headlights.

My fix was opening the back accesspanels on the headlights on dry days and going for a long drive. Did this a couple of times and have had no problems with condensation since. It has been through two wet Norwegians winters, no problems.

Had condensation in mine the other day and popped the door off the back of the unit went for a drive and the lights cleared up after a few hours just one of those things but easy to fix the bloody box the oil sits in though on the passenger side is hot after a run nearly burnt my knuckles off

A lot of cars suffer the same thing. Cibie lights used on later 80/90/coupes back in the 80s had a curved rubber vent pipe fitted to try to deal with the issue. The lights would still get a bit of condensation if the weather was particularly damp & cold.

You would think so !!! Not quite the case. When I bought mine just over two years ago both headlights had this problem a few months after purchase. With the Mondial extended warranty and the knowledge of the recall/ repair option I went to Audi only to be told it's not covered and is totally normal.
Now in the last few weeks have replaced one full light unit after motor failure may well be down to all the moisture over time. Now the other unit has failed same motor failure. Over 2k for two lights FFS

Did that come out of your own skyrocket or did you manage to claim in the end??

I had a bulb that changed colour (badly - purple light output) the dealer blamed on condensation. The full £600+ bill for changing it went to Audi Extended Warranty thankfully.

Out of my pocket. The problem being its not classed as a recall its just down to your Audi dealer to offer goodwill. If it's not under any warranty the dealer will decide what if anything they will put towards the cost. I had a long conversation last week with Audi UK and they basically just passed it back to my local dealer. I've been told certain dealers get a pot/amount of money a year to be used as they see fit for this sort of thing. Others on here may know different?

A lot is down to service history and relationship with the dealer. If you've had a car serviced with Audi throughout you're likely to get some goodwill, more so if you've got a longstanding relationship with a specific dealer.
