Brake duct mod parts
Anyone know where the best place to get the parts to do the mod from.
TPS are coming out at about £115 plus vat for all the bits, is that about right?
Cheers
Steve

Re: Brake duct mod parts
Thanks Ian - I'll get them ordered up.
I got a set of DS2500's going on as well, so it'll be interesting to see the improvement on the brakes.

Does help, especially for track use! best upgrade is definitely a bigger brake setup though!Stevev-RS6 wrote:Thanks Ian - I'll get them ordered up.

I intend to go for the 2piece AP setup, but my disks aren't that old, so will change them closer to when they need changing.TomRS wrote:Does help, especially for track use! best upgrade is definitely a bigger brake setup though!Stevev-RS6 wrote:Thanks Ian - I'll get them ordered up.

Re: Brake duct mod parts
AP dont do a 400mm disc so you either stick 390mm or go 410mm with a different calliper.Stevev-RS6 wrote:I intend to go for the 2piece AP setup, but my disks aren't that old, so will change them closer to when they need changing.TomRS wrote:Does help, especially for track use! best upgrade is definitely a bigger brake setup though!Stevev-RS6 wrote:Thanks Ian - I'll get them ordered up.

Re: Brake duct mod parts
Hi TomRS,
I have the mtm 405 mm performance friction steel fronts and big improvement in braking, especially from 310 km/hr
Next step but significant leap in price is the fitting of 410 ceramics.
cheers,
john

Re: Brake duct mod parts
John - The new AP 410mm kit TomRS has (calipers/discs/pads) would sit between the MTM's and the full 420mm ceramics but cost the same as the MTM discs alone, so for those who want a better setup but are undecided there's even more choice now -
Brembo 405mm (disc only) - £1700
MTM 405mm (disc only) - £2600
AP 410mm (full replacement) - £2600
Tarox T16 400mm (full replacement) - £4000
Alcon 400mm (full replacement) - £5000
OEM Ceramics 420mm (full replacement) - £6000 2nd hand - £14000 new
Movit Ceramic 400mm - £14000+
Brembo 405mm (disc only) - £1700
MTM 405mm (disc only) - £2600
AP 410mm (full replacement) - £2600
Tarox T16 400mm (full replacement) - £4000

Re: Brake duct mod parts
As Ian states, the AP 410 with Radi Cal callipers sits in a perfect price bracket for an upgrade its on par with the 405MTM discs, and you get callipers/bells and lines with it.
The surface contact area on the Radi-Cal callipers is larger than most of the other brake options barring ceramics but as Ian states 6-14k depending on how you want to go.
Obviously with the cars aging as they are second hand ceramics could be a minefield and require new discs at 2/3k a pop.
I'm not pushing anyone to choose AP's personally i like having something different and i have no reason to promote the company as good as they have been.
The simple reason is cost and value, the AP setup is one of the most bang for buck setups you can get at the moment, MTM are insane to charge such high figures for discs alone as are other companies, personally i think it comes down to greed! AP racing have been doing discs for years with HUGE motorsport success, the likes of MTM, Tarox dont have any of that currently so at least you know with the likes of Brembo and AP you have a fully tested disc material that will last on the road and on the track.
The discs are also amazing value when replacment is needed, rocking in at around £700 for two discs
