contemplating selling
Owned the car since 11th of Jan this year, done just over 500 miles in it so far and to be honest i have no real desire to drive it like i did with my previous cars so its just been sat,i paid £29k for it from a local dealer, would i loose much selling private?
Re: contemplating selling
Stick up a spec list, mileage etc so we can give you a better estimate but usually you'll lose money. I've seen some stock cars with 50k miles going for £25k last week where as a year ago it's 80K mile cars going for £25k. There's always going to be cars well above that though at £33k+ depending on the rest of the spec.
Re: Enjoyment - I put a post on another forum saying almost the same thing back in October as I just couldn't go anywhere in Kent without a million other cars constantly around me and the lack of "enjoyable" driving was spoiling the car for me. So I started going out at silly'o'clock in the morning to avoid numpties or driving to Sussex to find quieter/better roads, or even over to France where the roads are uber quiet (I live 30mins from the Chunnel) etc.

Re: contemplating selling
Hi Ian,the enjoyment isnt the other cars around me or anything like that,i just dont get any feedback from it ,feels quite dull to be totally honest but then again im used to skylines and BMW M cars, the bulk of the rs is just there like the elephant in the room all the time and i just cant get on with it ,dont get me wrong its a great car, very fast and excellent quality, just not got the X factor for me im afraid .
This is the car from when i bought it from the dealer ,will have to write up a spec and advertise it ,im a pistonheads member so itll more than likely be on there soon

Same here, I had a 450hp RB26'd R34GTT and the "feel" on the Audi is nothing compared to the R34. When I bought my C5 I took around my personal "proving ground" where I'd driven the R34 for a few years and the first chicane I came to showed me the massive difference between them but I came to love the C5's power out of the bends and wet grip etc.marknjayne wrote:but then again im used to skylines and BMW M cars,
I know I haven't bonded with the C6 as much as the C5 I had but I'm trying to change that.
ATEOTD do what makes you happiest. Plus if you do sell up then you can at least say you've had a 650+hp estate

Wow, quite a collection there! I did amateur drifting way back in '03-'04 but I was crap and I could see the sponsorships starting to come in for the good guys and there's no way to compete with that so I stuck to track until I sold in xmas '08.
I nearly bought a R33GTR but the prep for Gulf War pt2 kicked off as I was signing up for some finance. Literally in the middle of filling in the form at the dealers I got a phone call saying you've got 8hrs to get back and get out to Saudi
I bought the R34 from Newera whilst I was still in Saudi/Kuwait and timed it to arrive back in the UK when I did.
I still fancy some Stagea Autech action but the prices have gone ballistic in Japan, £15k+ easily if you can find one!

im usesless at sideways haha
Shame you never got the 33 GTR ,awesome cars to be honest yet i find the GTST more fun ,did you have a GTT or GTR 34?
im still undecided what to do with my RS6,looking at prices i think i will take too bigger hit,may perceiver with it a few more month see how i feel
Re: contemplating selling
I had the GTT, knackered the NEO engine being an utter moron so swapped to a RB26 instead (1st in the UK) and it was awesome with the GTT's lightness/feel matched with the GTR's brute power.
I'd still love a R34 GTR but I need 4 doors and a big boot now a days, hence thinking about the Autech Stagea if it wasn't so awful inside, old and under powered

Re: contemplating selling
I remember your car ,remember it being for sale and I wanted to buy it but had to invest into a business at the time ,I'm sure it was in Lincoln (but I could be mistaken) , think we have spoke a few times on the skylineowners forum , your's was black wasn't it ?IanH755 wrote:I had the GTT, knackered the NEO engine being an utter moron so swapped to a RB26 instead (1st in the UK) and it was awesome with the GTT's lightness/feel matched with the GTR's brute power.

Yeah thats the one, R666GTT which got me attacked by an old religious nutter and his walking stick in the big Asda in Lincoln, had to get security and police, the works! I was in Lincoln until '05 when I moved to Oxford. The car was sold xmas '08 and rapidly changed hands twice within a few months until the 3rd owner I "think" took it to Ireland. I still pop onto SOC/GTROC now and again and, apart from the R35 sections, it's amazing how quiet both forums are now the cars are all around 20 years old.

Re: contemplating selling
Yeh true the skyline forums have gone quiet ,everyone is on Facebook nowadays, I'm still in touch with a few of the old lads like Bruce m ( who has a c5 rs6 now ) and big chief (kieth) etc , got quite a lot of mates with R35''s 'that I go out for drives /track/events with ,think a lot of chaos have bought gtst''s and given the skyline community a bad name tbhIanH755 wrote:Yeah thats the one, R666GTT which got me attacked by an old religious nutter and his walking stick in the big Asda in Lincoln, had to get security and police, the works! Re: contemplating selling
i can completely agree with you, me and Ian share similar views, have both had mainly jap cars and both agree the C6 is somewhat boring in comparison.
But when you dont compare it to a skyline and appreciate what it was designed for ( a fast comfy cruiser) its actually a nice car to drive.
I dont enjoy it as much as my R32GTR or even my boxy old Saab 9-5 Estate with 400bhp but it has its own little bit of character that oozes out especially when mapped at stage 2.
That certainly made it much more exciting... the stock car didnt feel very fast at all and i was expecting so much more, a mapped example feels more like what it should have been.
As for prices i paid 29k for a 08 on 80k back in march (had endless issues costing fortunes) sold it and bought this red one for 27k with loads of work done better spec 09 with 3G mmi adaptive cruise etc, and i have to admit i am starting to really enjoy the car and im tracking it come the 30th.
I've still got my Accord Type R which i use when i need that jap bouncy harsh stupid noise and pointless revs experience but for me the RS6 does exactly what it was made for perfectly (i drive 114 mile to work monday and again on a friday) and it eats the miles and i dont have a sore back.
Its a heavy estate car its never going to be driving fun, if you want a "fun" audi a b7 RS4 is where its at, even a b8... but any RS6's are heavy and really not made for throwing around.
Lovely collection you've had mind, but i dont think you'll make much money selling the car on, prices seem to be plumenting unfortunately but such is life.
I'll keep mine till next year and bail it for a c7 RS6 as they are stunning.
as for forums they arent what they used to be, not at all.. this place is still pretty good, but the skyline pages and honda pages are full of fags who have no idea and just wanna be "scene" or just generally drag the page/forum down.

Re: contemplating selling
i think i will just stick with it ,i have other cars too which are completely different in nature to the big audi, keep thinking about getting an atom for the nutter in me but im close to 40 now and i feel the cold a bit more than i used to haha so i may just get an E46 M3 for the RWD fun factor
Tom mine has 55k on it,probably wont do any more than 3k per year in it to be honest

Same boat. I've had her nearly 18 months though! A 996 in the garage helps.

Re: contemplating selling
Me too. I bought it from main dealer in July last year and whilst it's an awesome car, I'm just not making the most of it, and we're moving house this year so I think it would be sensible to sell whilst still under warranty. Mines a 2009 Muggy Blue with light grey interior, 70k miles. High spec with soft close and advanced key.
