Basic service cost

Post by iblis » Thu Jun 20, 2013 10:08 am

Hey all, just been quoted £580 for a main dealer basic service. From searching around, that seems a bit higher than I was expecting. This is the car's third service, but is the first one for me.

If anyone has had a basic service lately, can you let me know roughly how much you paid?

Thanks!

Think i would have expected £100 less personally (oil & filters).

Dont be afraid to haggle with other dealers.

Thanks guys. Appreciate the feedback, had googled around and saw lower example prices, but these are all old third party articles etc. Waiting for a comparison quote from my local dealer, but would rather not go back there. Previously they wanted to replace the gearbox for what turned out to be a filter that needed replacing. Luckily they didn't get warranty work approval.

i supplied my own oil when i had a 25k mile service last month. The local dealer charges £15 per lt and they charge for 10lts and give you the spare. So by supplying my own i saved a chunk off the initial price.

That's too expensive...

Mine gets done at main dealer (Wimbledon) and I've never paid that much...annual oil service in April was £301.16 inclusive of VAT.

Filters were done last year, as was brake fluid, and low mileage so don't need spark plugs...

Negotiate!

Sounds like an inspection service as opposed to a basic service. Can't remember the expect prices but I was being quoted around £500 for inspection and £300 for basic last time I had mine done.

Did you get a better price than £580 from an audi garage then? Mine needs doing this month so just wanted to know what other people are paying...

Mine was around £310inc vat for an inspection service last December. £580 seems steep.
