Just bumped into this thread. If your brain is computing cost over contentment - buy a diesel. The other way around it's a pretty no-brainer. I came from a 911 Turbo, apart from "track" handling its similar in most ways apart from practicality where this is not a "toy" but a family car. Going to the shops is an event with that V10 (and you can't buy them new any more, that's it for this sort of thing from Audi). Lastly on Speed detectors, you've all made a pretty big investment, I suggest a Road Angel Vantage. Again pricey but brilliant.

After a year...'point and squirt' wears off I can assure you, and anyone who considers 'going to the shops an event in one' may need to get out more.
I have a Road Angel Vantage also...good piece of kit.

On the contrary, I do like the car....but for me the cons outweigh the pro's. Not expecting my opinion to be embraced on an 'Audi Forum', but a few on here have sold for the same reasons. Mr Condor for example.
It could have been so much better IMO, slightly more aggressive styling, less weight etc. For me, the C5 and the RS4 I owned previously were the better cars, more tactile and less anodine.

Just going back a few threads to the brief chat re MPG. Someone on here, I forget who, had a brilliant quote in their footer a while back which I think sums up a lot of the arguments re the RS6. It was something like 'buying an RS6 and worrying about fuel costs is like buying a boat and worrying about getting it wet!'. Still makes me chuckle now when I think of it so I thought I'd share it again.

I have total sympathy with people's views on talking about the RS6's fuel economy. My car is my one vice, and I put up with its drinking habit because of the smile it puts on my face.

However, my love for it was severely tested last night when this happened. I've been filling up my cars for 24 years and this is the first time it's ever got into three figures.

Same here, £100 for 73 litres....267 miles....first time I've ever been tempted to check MPG sadly. Averaged 16 mpg. Dire.
