In theory any car should be slightly better after mapping but I had mine mapped from the crate pretty much so don't know.jezitalia wrote:Nudenut and T2FOO, did you see much of a increase in thirst with the power enhancements you made? I don't like to assume, but would guess the standard set up drinks a little less?
I know T2FOO did some work on this, sure he'll chip in...

Just had a look at my trip computer (2) that was only ever reset when I got it and over approximately 5000 miles I'm averaging 15.9mpg
I live in a quiet countryside area and would say my driving is probably 70% countryside and 30% town.
I do like to get my foot down a bit though! But even when my wife is in the car and I am driving steady, I struggle to get much more than 18mpg.
My car is stock apart from the milltek exhaust.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Holmax. I am building a nice sales pitch to the Mrs here, as she is already baulking at the anticipated running costs, my pitch will be " Dear, I have a cunning plan, for a small fee, which will be recovered in a few months I can have whats called a remap ", of course the primary reason will be well hidden behind the running cost benefit suggestion.
I got about 18.5mpg pre-tuning.
+135bhp for -1.5mpg is a fairly decent return.
I *heart* MRC.
I got 24mpg on a very civilised trip back from Birmingham International Airport this afternoon.

C5 engine: I got 32mpg from Poole to Glasgow last xmas, at 68mph with most of the electrics 'off'. That was mapped aswell. Averaged 26mpg over the last month since MRC chipped in with some extra tweakery, included some hooning around with the Pistonheads lot. On a short run (12 miles from my house to in-laws) using MRC's 5th@30mph TCU map i get around 36mpg but as soon as you add a hill or a bit of throttle it drops accordingly. Around town still hits at 10-15mpg.
