Tuning Options

Post by T2FOO » Sat Feb 13, 2010 5:15 pm

Hi All. Rejoined member (under a new name) after losing my login details and not being able to get my old username back.

Recently let my beloved S4 (B6 - AmD Stage 3) go to live with my best mate and replaced her with a C6 RS6 Saloon, in Daytona Grey, with everything but the kitchen sink on it.

I've had her a week and already done 1,200 miles. It's so much more civilised than my six year old S4, yet so much more of a kick in the kidneys when you give it a spank. Have had some lovely reactions from other road users, ranging from thumbs up, wicked-finger flicking and whatthehellwasthat head turns.

I'm going to do what I did with my S4 and enjoy her in standard trim while she's new before spending a bit of money on a tune-up. It's like having two new cars that way.

What do you chaps suggest?

I did love the noise of the Milteks on the S4.

The millteks do sound nice. The only thing is that there is no non res option and I wouldn't say that they are a great deal louder than the stock pipes. I went for the quad pipe option and they sound more throaty (can't think of a better description) than stock. You can listen to them before and after here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uuTjzhTKSs4
They do a twin oval option like the stock pipes if you prefer.
I got offered a free remap from revo as they wanted to borrow my car for development. I've decided to pass on it but if you are interested you could speak to Andy at Autotechnica http://www.autotechnica.co.uk/ and I'm sure he could arrange for you.
Enjoy your car, they are a true beast.

 Hell yes Mihnea!!

It's easy T2FOO you just pop along to MRC, let them work a bit of magic and drive home in a car that feels half the weight. My Mrs just drove me back from a heavy night out and I still love the way the car is so docile in her hands, smooth as silk... but even Mrs Nudenut couldn't resist owning a Boxster on the way, the guy was just laughing out loud as she passed him at a cantor!!

Hmm, Banbury.

I drive a great deal between London and the West Midlands.

MRC don't feature anything much for the C6 on their website, any info on costs etc?

Please feel free to PM if you'd prefer.

T2FOO: the usual gains with a pair of airfilters are around 110 to 120 BHP and we usually try to limit torque around 800-820Nm. Give us a shout monday or feel free to email us on info@mrctuning.com for a quote ;)

Sounds interesting...

Probably been asked (and answered) a million times before...but what is the likely inflation on the insurance premium (if indeed you have declared the change)?

I declared mine through Admiral... Exhaust and Re-map up to 25% gain (gives 725PS ceiling on a C6) and was pleasantly surprised.

Best bet is to just run your info through the on-line quote generator and see.

Whoops!

It was just while we were swapping plates though, outside my mate's house. Thought it would be rude not to get a picture.
