Who do I complain to?

Post by rost12 » Thu Mar 18, 2010 2:55 pm

A quick question to anyone that's ever had to deal with a less than co-operative service department... what are the proper channels to become that proverbial "squeaky wheel"?

I'm on my 4th visit to fix "ABS" and "Parking Break Malfunction" warning lights, dealership is clueless as to what's wrong with the car, and it has been in the shop a total of over 2 weeks now. I've yet to get ANY courtesy car, let alone something corresponding to the value of the car I've bought from them. And now I'm starting to get attitude from the service advisors, as if the situation is "fine" and I'm being a brat.

I've never ever written letters to managers/supervisors complaining about the service I've been receiving, but I'm willing to start :/

Ask to speak with the service manager and failing that the dealer principle. Next you're into the world of Audi UK and they aren't exactly reknowned for resolving problems. Best bet lies within the dealer, if they are crap you could try another in the area, not convenient I accept but may get a resolution.

I'd expect as a minimum a loaner of a similar standard, not some knackered A3.

I would suggest writing to AUDI HQ (Germany) copying AUDI UK

The big question is which Audi dealership is it? Some are definitely better than others! If the warning light is coming on there it must be detecting (and logging) a fault...

They've replaced the part that the computer was pointing at, same problem. Replaced the ABS computer, problem persists. For the past week all I've heard was "we don't know what's wrong". Oh, and when they were replacing one part they screwed up something else along the way. I'd really love for this car to stop giving me reasons to go to the dealer, cause they typically make stuff worse...

I don't know what's the etiquette on naming dealers, but this is a big shiny one west of London :/

Giving them till end of today (3 calls to my service advisor, he's yet to call me back), then it's off to Audi Customer services, I guess.

you surely must be due a courtesy car, I would call Audi customer services just to get clarification on this point

Given your driving a more or less brand new car, not just any car, their Halo car, they need to look after you in the first instance, then get your car fixed ASAP

If you continue to get no joy you might want to forget the big shiny one west of London and go to the unassuming one on a trading estate on the outskirts of Camberley...

Camberley Audi is a bit further West of London, but worth it IMHO.

.

I'm afraid it is not just Audi, I have had the same problems with other large corporations. They are not systemically structured to cope with the needs of the individual.

Apart from soaking yourself with 98 octane petrol and setting light to yourself outside Audi HQ with a placard stating your grievance, I'm not sure there is a secret doorway to the dudes who are prepared to listen and can make a difference. Unless you are a famous footballer or celeb etc...

Computer says "no" comes to mind.

I've had to contact uk customer service's twice up to now.
The first one resulted in a dealership calling me with a grovelling apology and a cheque for fifty quid to cover my wasted trip.
I'm still awaiting a reply for the second one made about ten days ago concerning condensation in my headlights.
Makes you think twice about buying another Audi doesn't it!

If not owned by Audi, top floors are run by Audi, definitely a close tie there
