Production ceased with the RS6...

Having spoke with my loacal dealer this week, he is convinced that production has now stopped.

This is to allow the production of the TT RS and to keep to the Audi ethos of one RS being built at one time.

I had been told RS6 Avant production was stopped in 2009 Q1 .. however I learnt a long tim eago to ignore sales guys in Audi showrooms

Audi GMBH needs an extension then.... WHY not have more than 1 RS model in production where as Merc and BMW manage it!!

Perhaps in the future there will be multiple RS models available at any one time.


so what of the supposed RS3 then?????

Talking with the dealer last thurs, RS6 production now stopped, TTRS will now be built into next year but limited run, then RS5 will start.

TT-RS is built in Hungary, the same as all other TTs, I don't even get it why they call it RS when the VIN stays "hungarian TT" instead of quattro GmbH like all other RSs... so I don't believe they would stop the RS6 production to make TT-RSs.

Pretty sure it was only the RS2 & B5 RS4 that had Quattro GmbH stamped on the VIN plate. The C5 & C6 RS6 don't & the B7 RS4 don't have Quattro GmbH, just the relevant Audi stamp.

Tis therefore possible the TT-RS is built by Quattro but not stamped as per previous RS's. IIRC, the R8 runs some of it's production was down the RS line.

Already said on another thread though, that i believe building an RS variant of the TT does further devalue the RS marque a little.

My new RS6 Avant will actually be assembled in week 40 (waiting is painful!). Hence I'm pretty sure the production is still running

when i test drove a car last weekend i was told that i could order a new car - so production still ongoing.
