RE: RS6 Saloon... I WANT!
Hmmmm im not sure what to make of it to be honest, It looks like a Relaxed version of the RS4 Saloon.....im not overly impressed, the interior looks nice!
However im intresdted to hear about the performance upgrade that customers can have...looks interesting!

Anyone got a weight for the Saloon??
Obviously lighter without the lardy rear of the Avant which at 2.1 Tons is just mentally fat, but really curious to know the weight of the Saloon.

The M5 is nearly 150KG lighter than the RS6. Why can't Audi start using some of their ASF technology on cars other than the A8, as i'm damned sure that would have got the RS6's weight down to a sensible level. Glad i bailed from my Saloon order earlier this year.

As I understand it, there is already a degree of aluminium used in the construction of the A6/S6/RS6 body, hence the reason it's built at Neckarsulm (I visited the factory there in 2005). It's not a complete ASF though like the A8.
I guess the addition of two turbochargers, plus all of the associated plumbing and of course the quattro all contribute to the extra weight. Then there's the build quality - climb into any E60 5 series after spending time with an A6 and it's immediately obvious that the latter is more solidly put together. One could argue that this might incur a weight penalty too.

"Die hard Audi fan in Swindon C63 AMG test drive shocker"
... And it was great. I never thought I'd own a Merc, especially over an RS6, but I think it's been walloped this time.
The AMG looks 'severe', felt VERY quick, sounds even better, tons of space, impressive gearbox, for £52k. I personally could never do the RS6 this time around, not sure what sales are like, but with no current RS4 either Audi may loose some share for the time being.
I'm sure there are lots of great RS's in the pipeline, but as the one and only, great, Duncan Bannatyne says, "for those reasons, I'm oot."
