Saw a new RS6 today at Audi Trafford

Post by NumberoftheBeast » Thu Jul 10, 2008 10:55 pm

Saw a new RS6 today at Audi Trafford, black in colour. I came away very disappointed. Very disappointed.

Now don't get me wrong, it is nice and modern but I just don't see the point in spending £82,000 on one. They had an R8 in blue outside for a shade under this price and whilst the RS6 and R8 are two very different cars, it would be a no brainer for someone in my circumstances as don't need 5 seats!!!

The new RS6 is lovely inside; lots of buttons and carbon, very flashy and a lovely place to be. The seats are quite nice and sporty, but in some way, they just don't suit the rest of the car. Overall, the interior is an improvement on its predecessor but time and technology moves on and an improvement is to be expected. Thumbs up for the inside.

However, on the outisde, it just didn't float my boat. It doesn't look like an eighty grand vehicle and I'd feel short changed. Imagine buying a pair of ludicrously priced designer Jeans for £250 and no-one noticing them. This car would make you feel like this...

This car is subtle, in some ways, maybe this is a positive, but it isn't as mean as the new RS4, old RS4 or old RS6. Looking at my car outside through the big glass windows, I noticed that my C5 is so much meaner and aggressive. The arches aren't flared on the new RS6 and it just looks like an ordinary A6 apart from the twin tailpipes, badges and bits of chrome etc. The car sits quite high and it just doesn't look "hard" like I would want it to.

Under the bonnet was my biggest disappointment. Whilst this car is a 5 litre, it looks squashed and compacted. My "measly" 4.2 looks bigger and more impressive without the extra 800cc.

Maybe a test drive would change my mind, but I just don't see the point in this car at all. I wanted to like it but I regrettably, I didn't.
