VW / Audi group was the first (??) that I can think of using a dsg style gearbox, standfast Le Mans Porsche which used something similar to the tranny on the S1 quattro (pdk I think it was called....) anyway if Audi hold the trump card too long BMW/Merc WILL jump on the bandwagon stating THEY brought DSG boxes to high performance cars first and leave Audi to bring up 3rd place instead of being the first to use it on a longitutinal layout engine.
The M3 now is available with a dual clutch set up... ok some purists dont want a paddly gearbox no matter how good it is, manual rules for some.
