So I guess this is now the official look and output numbers! - WOW! Love the wheel arches :notworthy:

I bet this will look a very low and wide mother in the flesh! 8)

A bit heavier than I was expecting though. Lots of comments previously about it being under 2,000kg

Is the 60:40 rear bias the same as the B7 RS4? :?:

This is from a post on the M5 Board -

Just read from the Swedish Auto Motor Sport-site;

"Men enligt en liten fågel som viskat i vårt öra så är 580 hk bara den officiella siffran. I själva verket utvecklar kärnkraftverket en bit ÖVER 600 hk, cirka 610 - 620, men det vågar inte Audi uppge i dessa tider då koldioxidutsläpp är det enda som bilindustrin pratar om."

And in translation;

"According to a little bird that whispered in our ears is 580 hp only the official figure. The actual figure from the nuclear powerplant is a bit OVER 600 hp, approximately 610 - 620, but Audi doesn't dare to state those figures since Co2 is the only thing the car industry is talking about these days"

610-620bhp :biggrin3: This would be great to establish on a RR - when someone here gets one of course.

I also read (whilst in the dealership and looking at web sites) that there were talks of a Plus version with mid 600 Bhp, but I imagine this would be a final product run rather than a cost option, if at all. Could be rubbish of course, we will have to wait and see. I should point out that they were not Audi web sites!

lots of extra power but lots of extra weight as well, so its not that much better than the RS4 V8....

It will be a 4200 lbs easy with some options, so ok if will run nice, but not as fast as when you here the 580hp figure.... place those horse power in a 996 bi turbo and that would be rocking...

so this car won't be for me.... not sporty enough...

I think I will buy another 996TT... or wait for a future RS5 if ever released....

why? the RS5 wont have knocking on 600bhp!!

Norrs2 imagine this in tornado red or pearl white!!

I have already ade a space in my collection cabinet for a red one.

Perhaps the Plus version will also have been on a diet so save a few lbs whereas your wallet will loose a few more £'s !!

Saw a photo of RS6 Saloon but I reckon its just a photoshop thing done by a car mag as it don't look right, looked like the S6 but with an RS6 nose pasted onto it, wheels and wings etc werent anything like the avant.

Grettings all !

As an old fart from rs4.org and early days from rs246.com (RS4 Imola B5 MTM 460hp custom map + full Milltek exhaust + 380mm MovIt brake set), I must say that this news brought a huge smile to my face.

After the (in)famous run of RS246.com crew to Hockenheim Quattro Challenge 2004, and the private meeting at Quattro GmbH with the RS246.com crew with their engineers regarding our current B5 owners feedback towards the B7 project, I must say I was taken back from Audi a bit.
- "No more Turbo on the S/RS series because of warranty issues due to tuning.."
- "And from now on, our S/RS models will have spy bugs to detect engine mods.."
- "And we can't confirm the next RS will be Avant only..."

They were right on all accounts.

But this new RS6 Twin-Turbo is getting back into the race.

1.20+ mods on Turbo-Charged Audis are common nowaydays (ex: 380hp RS4 B5 * 1.20 = 460 hp easy)

So I can expect the German tuners to get to work asap and do the same.

580hp * 1.2+ = 700 hp

Now that makes me smile again.

Count me in, as long as I can buy one in Yellow Imola (due to car-jacking issues in France).

/salute

PS : the giant Schnauzer dog is still alive and kicking, ready to talk with car-jacking thugs 8)
PS2 : nevertheless I must admit I'm disappointed they failed to release an RS based on the R10 TDI engine winner of Le Mans.
They could make a showcase out of a Le Mans winner, they should have...

Hi Eric, glad you are well and still about - I am sure the rest of the "2004" Hock crew will be along shortly. Say hello to Taipan for me - we now have a French "Berger Allemand" named Porsche.
If you are ever near Department 31 call in on us
Do you still have your imola?

Hi Eric,
Good to see that there are still a few of the old ones around. I haven't been on the site for a while either. Taipan should meet Oopsey, as she is still on good nicks too. I am looking into the RS6 as well, as my B5 RS4 is getting a bit old. However it is still great fun to drive. I do drive the wife's RS6 often but I do wonder if I am old enough for such a heavy car. I did drive the new S6, it is far too heavy.

A friend of mine saw one spec'd up to hilt in Essen (ceramic brakes etc), listing at 138,000 Euros !.
Wasn't impressed by the price or the appearance.

We are talking circa £100,000 for the new RS6, or at least £80,000 + with moderate spec.

Madness. Unfortunately, pulling my order off. This is not an £80,000 + car.
The hit will be biblical.

Cheers,
