S8 Mapping

Post by PoP-PoP-BANG » Mon Dec 08, 2014 2:56 pm

Hi guys,

Have any of you ever been to get your S8 mapped? I'm thinking about going to MRC, has anyone else been prior?

Thanks,

Anil

We will be working on a tune for the v10 S6, and my Tuner apparently has done S8s before. I would guess something will be available by the summer time.

Currently, the car has the engine out while we explore different options to increase performance. Once everything is back together, then the tuning begins. I will have a build thread up pretty soon on AudiRevolution.

I created the C6 v10 S6 Info Dump, to have a place to gather all the data on that model. However, if you have a v10 S8, then there is a lot of good info that will also apply to your car.

aMD in Essex did one back in 2012. Improved bhp from 398 to 430 and torque from 365 to 391 lb/ft. Give them a call.

Hey Richard, were the results you posted from a run on the dyno, and then calculated back to crank power? Or are they awhp and awtq?

Any other mods? Those are pretty impressive gains from a tune alone.

Hi V8a6,

They are rolling road figures before and after, taken within an hour of each other. Only difference I could see from print out was transmission ratio (2.06 for before run, 1.57 for after run), almost certainly a typo as it gave 164.2 mph at 6923 rpm vs 117.9 mph at 6509 rpm? Different gear ratio held manually? Disappointment that stock figures are 450 bhp.

Only reference is Dimtech 41S.
Cheers, Richard

Oh, OK. So, the results were gathered with a device where you input your car data (e.g. weight) and it computes crank HP and TQ based on acceleration?

I would say that what is more important than the values themselves, is the difference between before and after. If everything was kept as equal as possible, you still gained about 30hp and 25tq at the crank.

Did you have a carbon clean done recently before the work? Any engine errors for misfires? Was it a hot day? Oncoming wind? Incorrect value used for vehicle weight? All could have an effect on the readings (especially carbon cleaning)

This guy saw a difference of 55HP and 25TQ AT THE WHEELS! on a dyno after doing a carbon clean. That is HUGE!

You see exactly the same on the B7 RS4's, Direct injection engines tend to carbon the intakes quite badly.

Btw in the UK the standard is crank hp :)

Also I'd like to recommend MRC Tuning, as would 99% of people who've been. I don't want to bash on AmD too much but I wasn't impressed with their map or workmanship on my car.
