Had my first real blast at the weekend and to be honest I don't understand why most of the stuff I've read in the press is so negative. In real world driving terms it's not a million miles away from my old RS6 in performance although obviously the pick up isn't as violent yet the steering is so much more direct. It handles better as well. Much more chuckable.
Whether that's got a lot to do with the fact that it's new we'll see. Anyway, so far so good :D

It's fantastic and I'm really surprised but how little is being written about it. There doesn't seem to be that many owners out there.
I think last months's Evo sums it up really. There was an end of term write up on their S5 which basically said it had, over the term, grown on everyone and now they were sad to see it go. One thing they said that I agree with though is an'agressive' pull away in first can be awkward as it's quite a short gear, oherwise can't find much else to fault.
Don't believe what's been written. Get an opinion for yourself.
It's a great car

Have you kept the car standard or have you had any thoughts on playing with it a bit?

I've been in touch with AMD and they will do a re-map and install a Millteck for 1300 quid. I'm tempted (more by the exhaust than the 30 or so extra BHP) but undecided as yet.....

Look up Milltek S5 on Youtube. It sounds more like a TVR !!

Not sure what you've been reading, but all the reviews I've read have been glowing. Maybe not quite as focused as a track car as the RS4, but as a GT can't see much else beating it atm

If they chuck the 3.0 TFSI from the forthcoming S4 in it with the 7 speed S-tronic (as specualtion suggests) I'll be agonisingly torn between the 4 & 5 for my next motor

Its a good car... I have had mine mapped and Milltek'd at APS in Brackely, also had a BMC filter fitted, the pick up improves no end with the combination of all three...

Hi all,
I too am downshifting from an RS6 to an S5. Take delivery on 1st September. Phantom black with white leather seats; apparently destined to be a sales manager's drive, but I nabbed it instead. Am told it's been shipped. Doesn't have the rear parking camera, which I got used to on the RS6, but seems to have all the other mod cons. Getting in touch with Justin at Gleeming Cleen for an early detailing job. Any ideas about Supagarding it?

My RS6 Avant in Monza Silver will soon be on the Audi website (HJ09 XWW).

Hope there is a bit more activity on the forum

Raj, Hi. Glad someone else is on this forum too as I've found it quiet since moving from my RS4. I'm absolutely loving the car. Can't praise it highly enough. Mine's an 08 plate rather than a newie though. Just researching Swissvax stuff at the moment for the seats as worried with winter coming up that I might get in the car all damp and leave a nice blue mark on the seats. Never had a problem with the RS4 black seats!

Hi phil,
Mine's arriving on the 1st. Getting it treated at the showroom by Justin of Gleaming kleen, instead of the standard Supagard treatment.
Apparently Poole Audi have already sold my RS6, which is still with me!

Ha ha. Well you'd best not bash it up then! I actually had a little prang in mine last week. Some little Sh1t thought I was going through a red light for some reason and drive straight into the back of me after I'd stopped. New rear bumper needed. Very naffed off. They've put me in a CLS in the meantime though which is OK, but if I'd paid the 55k list price I'd be really let down. The S5 is in a different league in every way. Only Merc I've ever driven. And it'll be the only one.

Hope the pick-up goes well on the 1st. Get some pics up of Justin's work. I'll do likewise with mine when I get the stuff from SV. Although clearly my efforts will look amateurish compared to a pro!
