It's certainly no "eater", but I think people (including me!) may have been under-estimating it's performance.

Just found this:

I have had a wee go along the motorway at Glasgow Audi and back up the other carrageway, hardly an inspiring drive in a straight line but compared to the B5 RS4 it feels tighter which it should do and more feel to the steering which 1 would expect with its engine further back in the chassis and the new modular chassis design.
Its a great looking car but the RS5 will once again push the boundaries out again and as a result it "should" be better than the B7 RS4 BUT because its normally aspirated doesnt have the shove in the back as the turbo charged models have...perhpas the RS5 will be turbo charged??

RS4 eater?? Hmmmm, the S5 would have serious trouble with a Stage 2 S4 yet alone an RS4 whether B5 or B7.

RS4 eater, what an embarassment!! obviously new audi buyer and has no idea on the RS4 let alone his car the S5. Won't even come close to the RS4 B7 that is. Aesthetically exterior and interior beautiful. Performance not in the ball park.

Thanks

"If you want to triumph over time from a standing start, you dump the clutch at 4,500 rpm, sense a bit of wheelspin from the front tires followed by a stern kick from the rears, and 60 mph comes up in 4.9 seconds. You pass through the quarter-mile in 13.3 seconds at 104.6 mph. This compares to the 420-hp Audi RS4's 4.7-second acceleration to 60 mph and its quarter-mile pass of 13.2 seconds at 106.8 mph."

Please define "close"

perhaps I should have mentioned my quarter came up at 12.95 in humid conditions. That I suspect will answer your query.
Cheers

Shame he wasn't the 57plate S5 that I 'smoked' on the M8 last week!

12.96 middle of the day and without dumping the clutch.

But yes the S5 is stunning inside and out and if the RS5 does come and it does have turbos that is definetely my next car.

Did I mention I test drove the new M3 the other day.............still got the RS4. But they are giving me a track day with the M3 so that might just do it. we will see.

I have heard that the RS5 will have a twin turbo version of the 4.2 FSI, if so :D :D
