S5 in the flesh

Post by VARSITY » Sun Jun 03, 2007 12:16 am

There were 2 S5s at QEK, Audi's prep area at Upper Heyford today and they looked very nice indeed.

Alot bigger in the flesh than in the picture. The interior was very nice, very upmarket. Sort of A6 size rather than A4.

Whether they were press, management or production cars no one new.

They did have a big sticker on them to say they weren't to be driven on the public roads though.

Couldn't take any pics as couldn't risk losing my phone.
Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I got told off a few years ago... Collected my new car from VAG HQ in Milton Keynes, took a couple of pictures (as you do) but did'nt realise that I'd snapped a couple of new unveiled B7 A4's in the background that had not been on UK roads.

I expect the A5 to be the size of a 2 door A6, in a similar fashion to how Merc have done their coupe's.
Present:...
Lotus Evora GT410 Sport, Caterham 420R, CCM Spitfire, VW T2 Bay Window 1976

Past:
DB11 AMR, 992, 991.2, Yamaha MT01, 640d Gran Coupe, 635d Coupe, RS6 C5, Audi TT 225 Coupe, Astra with wind up windows, Citroen ZX, Rover 213, yes behold, a Rover 213... Renault 5

Are they a full 5 seater (unlike the current 3-series coupe)?

Rear leg room is important for me, so if they are A6 size then that's great news - I sat in a B7 RS4 at the dealers yesteday and couldn't believe how little rear leg room there was with the sport seats!

I took a look at an A5 but the only chance I had was first thing in the morning before the dealer opened so I couldn't take a look inside. I t was parked next to an A4 and didn't look particuarly larger but it's hard to say on a brief look.

I sat in the front, loads of room but didn't look at the rear. It seemd a tad bgger than the RS4 but wouldn't put money on it.

Sorry.

Leg room in the A5 is terrible. Much less than my old M3

I was passing the Audi dealer on the corner of Berkley street opposite the Ritz earlier, they have a grey with red interior lhd S5 and a silver rhd R8.....both cars were open....no problem with sitting in them and pressing the buttons the pleasant sales girl just smiled no sales pitch at all :)
2000 B5 S4 facelift, sadly missed...enjoying the 2005 A2 TDi Special Edition though!
