Post by CliveH » Fri Mar 09, 2007 12:17 pm

Pleased to see the new S5 and S8 forums - thanks Phil

Well I'll kick this one off...

There's no better confirmation of the car's imminent appearance than it's debut at a Motor Show...looks good...

According to a contact at a dealership, no. Completely new.

Power is up to 354 bhp (FSI 4.2), 0 - 62 mph listed as 5.1 secs (rather than 5.6 for the B6/7 S4). Standard spec includes 19" alloys, full leather, daytime running lights. OTR price a shade under 40k

This car looks awsome, think I may have found a replacement for my S4....

The one that really interests me is the A5 3.0TDI, fuel economy and speed! 0-62 in 5.9 sounds a fair compromise to me!

Lets hope they offer it with TipTronic or DSG!

I'm not too sure - the front looks good. but from the sides (and I'm gonna get blasted for saying this) it looks like a cross between the new beemer 3 series and the old honda preludes!!

But then the pictures don't truly show what it looks like (my get-out clause) :D
01 RS4, Milltek, Dahlback Racing rears, RS6 fronts and a few bits to be added.

Also, as I hate driving, my toy to play with - a Honda CBR F Sport

Well, based upon what we've seen my wife has switched her order from a new TT 3.2 to an S5. It looks pretty awesome, so roll on July, when the 1st customer deliveries start.

The options list is quite impressive. Audi parking system advanced (inc rear camera) is only £650 and keyless entry £499. Overall we've speced it to about £46k, whereas the TT 3.2 was coming in at £37k. but it is 100+ hp more powerfull and a full 4 seater.
RS4 Avant, Phantom Black, SS+, Tech Pack + TV, Homelink, Heated F&R Seats, Auto Dim etc.

996 C4S, Basalt Black

TT 225 Coupe, Raven Black (the wifes!!!), S5 in Phanton Black from 1/9

We've just ordered one to replace the TT. Went for the S5 when the 3.0TDI makes more sense, but sometimes you have to sieze the moment

On the options we took the £££ Satnav, AMI and the review-mirror-fiddle-gadget. Is there anything else that needs to be in there with a view to residual value in a couple years? I'm wondering if DAB might be more inportant in two years time but it pains me to pay £300 for it.

We have speced the following - B&O sound sys, Sat Nav +, Bluetooth kit, Park Sys Advanced (with rear camera), F&R heated seats, cruise, comfort pack, advanced key, adaptive lights, storage pack and hill hold. Come to just over £46k.

Some of these are nice to haves but I reckon the essentials are Sat Nav + and the B&O sound sys (its only £525 for a 500W system!!!). The park sys advanced is toy, but I'm sure that it will be sought after together will the advanced key. The others are all personal. I can't see the DAB adding any value.

I have been looking at the pictures and the spec for the new S5 for a few while now and I think this will make me buy a Audi again. :D
:nogarors4: Nogaro Blue RS4 :kissmyrings: KW V3's, H&R ARB's, 710N's, AWS DTS, 35% window tints for now  SOLD

Now Mercedes-Benz CLK55AMG

Hmm, we specced the Bose in the TT but given that hey're offering a 10-speaker as stock, he base spec should do us fine. I saw the B&O setup in an S8 in the showroom and it looked a bit too bling for my liking. AMI I think might be an essential even though I dislile iPODs.

Any extra parking aids are ruled out as my wife can't stand things beeping at her! Shame they didn't offer Tyre-pressure monitoring as a option, though.
