New 2017 S5 Cab

Post by Misanoredrs4 » Fri Aug 04, 2017 2:37 pm

Just got hold of this little monkey a couple of days ago. First impressions are really favourable. Good things are:

Gearbox overall, from 2nd onwards anyway. Moved to a new 8 speed auto box from the old s tronic and I prefer it. Just a bit dim in first sometimes.
Comfy as you like, great seats with auto side bolsters.
New audi interior, IMHO a good step forward from the older cars
Tech is much better than older cars, smoother operation and graphics, virtual cockpit is brilliant. Running Google Earth on the Sat Nav via 4g connection in car is great
Nice noise from the V6 although could be louder
Good level of road noise from good tyres and great multi layer roof setup.
Quick, feels quicker than it is
Engine is very smooth power available from low revs no probs
Roof operation is a cinch.
Boot is massive for what it is which is a bonus.
Rear seats plenty roomy enough for my 2 kids, 6 footer could do an hours journey in them without too much of a problem.
Mine has the towbar option which means I can get us all in and carry 4 bikes on my carrier, then it hides away completely when not used.

Not so good:

Lack of black optics thus far, I know they will arrive later and its why I went for Mythos to get a contrast with the alu optics on the car, do like it though.
Cant spec air scarf with SS seats.
No 20 inch wheel available - suspect this is a group emissions target meeting thing. 19s are nice but arches need filling a bit more
As I said bit dim in first gear sometimes.
First black car, keeping it clean is impossible!

Will report more further down the line. Great car overall.

Looks great, just not sure about the front end. Need some interior pics though the red leather looks sweet through the back window.

Agreed on the wheels, another inch and happy days.

Looks great, I like the hood colour.

I've not driven a B9 S4/5 yet myself, I am keen to but no rush yet as waiting for used prices to come my way. The lack of response in first gear is quite a hot topic, there is a lot of discussion on audi-sport.net. The press have reported new orders are halted for a software update relating to emissions and "spontaneity". Owners with deliveries pending are not getting much useful info out of Audi UK so far as I have read.

...but a red roof, really? I don't understand it, is it cool like how old money toffs tend to wear red trousers?
Nope.

See, this is how to use the Internet. Can you teach others to not get all butthurt when someone offers an opinion.

Makes me smile the full on rants / spats that some people on forums (and the wider web) get in to when defending or asserting an opinion. I can't very well invite an opinion from everyone then get all pissy when someone disagrees :bigblink: :bash:
