purchase advice
Hi all, i looked at an s6 today and just wondered if anyone had any tips on what to look out for when purchasing?.
i have had a B5 and B7 RS4 and an RS2, when i drove the S6 today i noticed that the rear axle had a sort of rumble when pulling away out of a turning, all my previous RS's have done this so i am assuming it is common but just seemed noticeable, maybe because the car is so refined. also anyone know where to find the stamped chassis number. and is there an mp3 input as all the audi's i have had recently have the memory stick slot but this was not visable anywhere. thanks

Re: purchase advice
Hi James; im not aware of a rumble when pulling away in my S6 since the tyres were replaced and the wheel alignment adjusted so there could be an underlying issue there.
Although technically I cant be of a great deal of help I would suggest you look up the options available and make sue that the car you are looking at is well spec'ed as this doesn’t seem to make much difference to the selling prices. I assume its because people dont know what was available.
There should be a label in the service book listing options and this website can be used to decipher them. http://igorweb.org/equidec/Default.aspx
C6 S6 Brochure can be downloaded here - http://www.lease2u.co.uk/brochures/CARS/AUDI/a6s6.pdf
Also if you arent technically minded make sure you take someone along who is; dont mistakenly think that a main agent (if thats whose selling) offers a better level of service.
Finally; from personal experience make sure you have the correct tyres fitted (98Y XL); if not they wont last more than a couple of thousand miles.

Re: purchase advice
THANKS
this is deffinately similar to the sort of vibration/rumble as in my previous cars and they never had an issue while i owned, however i think i need to drive another vehicle.

Re: purchase advice
WOW just been through the brochure, what a minefield, do most of these options make a difference to selling the car?, only think the keyless was a worthwhile option, posibly ipod if you require it or sunroof which i dont think bothers most people.

Re: purchase advice
Keyless; now I have it is prob the best option imo.
I also have off the top of my head; nappa leather, TV, electric memory seats, auto dimming rear view and wing mirrors, multi-changer, auto headlights/wipers, bluetooth phone prep and heat insulating glass.
One thing I may look at is the bluetooth mp3 connection but not sure how much that will cost me.
As you said its quite a task finding out what the options are which is made even harder by dealers not having a clue either.

Re: purchase advice
so can you put a memory stick in the car or add mp3 tracks in any way as the only option i saw was for ipod. also the slight rumble is only apparent when pulling away on lock and not at all when cornering, as i said i have had 3 rs's all have this symton, just noticed it straight away on this.
