Clearly this is not the most popular run-around in town, I had a test drive and didn't think it was that bad, albeit I've been driving a (apologies in advance.. and I do expect to be banned from this forum after this first tentative post) a bmw 325 for the last 3 years

Anyone have any more opinions on an S6 as something a bit more modern than the lovely "not so old" RS6 (and without the leaking suspension... I hope) and not with the eye watering expense of the new one?

Like you say, I don't believe there are many on the roads so it certainly has rarity value; like the old S6 it suffers because I believe when it was launched soon after many people new the RS6 was on it's way.

Plus by all accounts it does not have the best suspension set up for the price of a new one given that for £10-15k more the S8 had air suspension, more kit and the same engine.

However I would say that given a few more months an early to mid £30's 2nd hand S6 with decenty kit will be an absolute bargain for a V10 powered car.

Cheers PG, maybe I'm going soft, but I didnt think the suspension felt that bad. I've yet to see one in the early/mid £30's range.... hopefully they may drop a bit in the next few months

Just been driving an S6 for a week, as my RS6 is in for minor body repair and I don't much care for the S6 at all.

When someone says what's that you are driving, or you have a new car, you find the response jumping past the "Oh its the S6, you know the sportier version of the A6" and very quickly onto "it has a V10 5.2 detuned Lambo engine" which gets a better response than just Oh....

Nice enough car, goes when you prod it, damping was OK but choppy ride in town. Engine note sounds good on full throttle, but its slower than the RS6 and not as much fun.

Additionally the bad point is the slow witted response from the engine and box when you want to go, it seems to hesitate while changing gears in readiness, and then going. Which becomes annoying when compared to the faster reactions of the RS6.

Also, pulling away from standstill can be an art form, the throttle is either engaged or not, its either a slow start as you feed the pressure on gently, or it takes off. There's little sensitivity in the throttle, unlike the RS6 which can be driven sedately or faster or fast.

Didn't like the car and wouldn't buy one and I had been thinking about buying one.

Hello, Greetings from cold north where radars are a rarity and empty twisty roads are the ones we have.
I´m Oliver, I live in Finland, I´m 10% overweight and 10%+ midaged. I enjoy everything which is too loud, too thirsty, too dangerous, too nonsense and everything else the elderly ladies in your family will mention.
So basicly, my hair on forehead tell that Beatles is not coming back. So I have an excuse to wear a helmet as long as I like without losing my hairdo.
My previous cars to mention were Audi Allroad 2.7 biturbo, VW Touareg V8 and Porsche Cayenne S.
Audi was comfortable and fast, T-reg was comfortable and not fast, Cayenne wasn´t comfortable but fast.
I outed all of them on several track days and trust me, I scared the <beep> out of many so called fast drivers in so called faster cars.
I got fed up with Porsche service when they told me to get a bus when I left the car in for two days service under warranty.
A week earlier I traded my wifes Nissan Murano to Audi Q7 V8 which has a real towing ability, so I could sacrifice my own towing hook. And I´m so incredibly glad I did.
You tell me that the ride is harsh, well it might be, but there are thousands of people who drive Land Rovers which will never leave tarmac. Majority of my driving is charm and relaxed, but then there are those days you cant avoid without proper medication - I mean the track days.....
My wife doesnt allow me to buy a Caterham nor Elise, so I have to survive with these everyday wheels.

So I have to suffer inside a Audi S6 avant V10 -06 with a fairly wide grin

Greetings from Grüne Hölle!
Had an excuse for a extended weekend with cars. We traveled to Eiffel with dozen+ fast Audis from Finland.
Now I know why Nürburgring is called The Green Hell. It must be hell when you wake up in the middle of night jumpin over Schwedenkreuz or sliding through Hazenbach! Havent unpacked my luggage yet and I´m already planning next trip there.

My grandfather suitable family wagon appeared stunning fast round the Nordschleife. Even faster after a shower when most of the fast cars disappeared from my front sector.

Just stunning......
