MMI Problems

Post by 801 » Tue Sep 01, 2015 1:17 pm

Hello

Recently took my S6 to get some dents fixed and the car was returned to me with water in the spare wheel well. No idea how it got there.

Now the MMI does not work.

I get the screen start up, but then disappear. It does not freeze. It just flashes, then disappears and I get a black screen.

Audi identified a faulty telephone ECU, and have by-passed it, and for a while it was working albeit with intermittent sound.

Then the display flickers when using the Sat Nav and this affects the dash readout too.

The speakers 'pop', like there is a bad connection somewhere and at one point the speakers in the front failed to work.

Occasionally, the screen fails to start as before, flashing then going black.

I have reset all settings, and rebooted with the three buttons, but no luck.

The repairs to the car were minor. Scratch on the wing, and a couple of dents to the door. All pulled out and filled. No panel replacement as far as I know and trims removed, etc.

The rear wiper pump has been leaking but this was not the source of the water in the spare wheel well.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Did you get to the bottom of this?
The DVD navigation unit is the only thing that I know in the vinicity of the rear boot that links through to the MMI so something to do with that perhaps? If so the water would have to come down from the upper near-side? Do you have a sunroof? Perhaps a drain channel was blocked?

It sounds like water has dropped on to the MOST connector on the amp.

I've had this happen to me on my A6 avant.
You can get a MOST loop connector from eBay, about £9. Plug this in and you can see if it is just the amp, or if it's anything else.

If you're local to Lincoln drop me a PM, I have one to try.

Or if you have access to VCDS, you can test the MOST system and identify the issue.
Again, I can do this if you need.

Hope this helps

Tom
