Hello,

Ive never really been one for forums etc but anyhow Im Nick and Ive got a 2006 S6, Ive got a bit of an issue with my S6. The power steering pump has failed according to Audi diagnostics and apparently are quite a common thing to fail. The problem Ive got is that they have quoted me nearly £5000 to replace it. I was thinking about changing it myself to save like small fortune and just wondered if anybody had any advice that would help me achieve this.

Any help would be appreciated

Nick

so from a quick check, it looks like its an engine out job to get at the pump, which would explain the labour costs.

Its probably worth your while calling unit20 or MRC to see if they have any way of doing it without removing the engine, as they probably do a lot more of these than most.

Has it completely failed or is it making a racket?

If its an issue with a steering related noise there is a good chance the fluid needs topping up. Its not readily accessible and requires the removal of the airbox to check the fluid level - S8 link but i believe its the same (apologies if im wrong though) http://forums.audiworld.com/showthread. ... 267&page=3
