Hey
so about to replace a coilpack, and just wanted to confirm the cylinder/ coilpack order is as follows:
5 - rear - 10
4 -------- 9
3 -------- 8
2 -------- 7
1 - front - 6

cylinder numbering
Re: cylinder numbering
as a note, the V8 is detailed here (and seems to be the same as my guess at the S6 v10 is)

Re: cylinder numbering
I am 99.9% sure that that is the right layout.
Can't find anything on Elsawin, but found this document about the VW Tourag V10:

I can't believe they would arbitrarily change the way they order the cylinders.

Re: cylinder numbering

thanks man - I changed the coil packs (6&7) and it seems to have fixed the misfire.

Re: cylinder numbering
Are Audi still having coilpack issues? Sometimes the misfire reporting isn't very accurate. It says 5 so you change 5 and it still comes back. Because it meant 6, really. Sometimes if your misfire doesn't go away right away then you can try changing the new coil pack's position. Or change them all, but if you're a greedy bugger and have 10 cylinders, that can get pricey.

Re: cylinder numbering
yeah
its hunting between 6, 7 and 8. I've swapped out 6&7 as they are the ones being reported the most and have two more on order so I can do 8 and have a spare. mostly it happens when i get stuck in traffic for a while and the engine gets heat soaked, so hopefully this will sort it out.
annoying that etka doesnt have this chunk of info in it though

Re: cylinder numbering
Its a free recall on the S6. Give ur dealer a call.
Re: cylinder numbering
unfortunately here (ireland) they havent issued a recall, and claim no knowledge of anything similar. I think there is only one original coilpack left now anyhows after the last round of 3
