What could be causing this? Outside temperature is ok for a while then goes much higher than actual outside temperature.
Blockage somewhere?
Where is the thermometer?

How higher is "much higher"?
What are you using to compare what it says with what you think it is?

yes I get this on my C6 RS6. yday it was not hotter than 21 here as per the reading on my polo.
i swapped cars and went to do a tip run in the RS6 and pump up tyres and it was showing 32. i think its the heat from the engine that's doing this lol

Unless the met office are not telling us the whole truth I donor believe, driving along the M3, even with temperatures due to be late 20s the outside temperature reads 45-50 degrees.
Ditto heading into the Alps last Easter it was warmer than usual but the reading was 25-30 degrees. Not possible given the amount of snow on the ground.
It's ok for a while but then just keeps getting higher and higher. Never gets ridiculous but clearly it's not working as one would expect. Bit of a pain in cold weather.
It's a 57 plate S6 Avant by the way.

maybe get a new sensor to see if it could be that?

Ok, yes that does sound quite out.
Remember the met office quote the temperature in the shade so the "actual" might really be a lot higher if in the sun (but not by that much).

Common problem on a C5 , so i guess its probably the same on a C6.
C6 ambient temp sensor G17 is same place as on the C5 , sensor is behind the front bumper.
Its a bumper off job to change it.
