S3 or keep the RS6

Post by mcfreedom » Sat Jan 30, 2010 5:48 pm

Hey guys,

I currently have an RS6 avant as my every day car at the moment, but fuel economy is pretty bad. In fact it's currently using £300 a week in fuel.

Was just wondering what returns you guys were getting in the S3??

My old school S3 is about 30mpg urban, and 35mpg on a long run. Can't imagine the new shape 2.0 litre being vastly different, probably better if anything.

Keep the RS6 for special and buy an old A3 TDI for the big miles.

I've got a 997 TURBO for fun, the RS6 is for everyday use. I love having the power to blow away almost anything when ever I need to, but having the TURBO for fun trips out.

Just thought re-mapping an S3 up to 385bhp would give me a similar hit as a 686bhp RS6 due to the weight difference, and better mpg

You wont beable to chip upto 385bhp, will need larger turbo etc.

I really don't think an mapped s3 will have the same kick as a rs6, after coming out of mine the only car that has felt quicker is classba's rs6. Not even a golf r with around 350hp comes close, I got a 335d and that would leave the r for dead

It's probably a bit late now as he asked the question over 5 years ago.

About a year now. It was a driveway queen so no use and working so far from home it wouldn't get used, now I'm working from home everyday so going to be getting another this summer as there is nothing really for the money that will do what that did which was outright speed as well as space.
