Is there a "road car" that eats discs and pads (similar costs) like the RS4?

That has got to be one of the stupidest thing I have read ! Your expecting them to contribute to a wear & tear item that all cars go through, maybe alter your driving style to get more life from the brakes hahahaha. I might ask my local audi dealer for some money off tyres ??

<beep> comment, try thinking beyond the box

Yes all cars wear out pads and discs, I have been driving cars and riding motorcycles for overs 45 years and in my earlier motoring and riding days and of late I have changed discs and pads, I have also worked in an engineering inviroment for some 39 years in production conditions. I have owned quite a wide variation of manuactures vehicles which includes Fords, VW, Citreon, Land Rover, Range Rover, Audi, Jaguar, Yamaha, Suzuki, Triumph, Kawasaki ect so I think I have some understanding of wear and tear

I have had my RS4 for 3 months now, and taking ownership of it I knew the front and rear discs needed changing as I could see they were shot. I can honestly say that the rears were in the worst state I have ever seen on a car, bearing in mine the car is 7 years old in March, they were totally corroded & stepped 44,000 miles

The point I was making was if they discs are not "man enough" or "fit for purpose" thats all

I think saying they are not fit for purpose is a bit over the top. Did you measure the disc thickness before replacing them?
Brakes are a compromise - the RS4 brakes and pads are more performance oriented than a road car. performance pads have more ceramic type compounds to cope with heat but this obviously has more of an abrasive action on the discs.

Just an off the cuff remark really, just love battling with the stealers,

Its just the comments they use, where there never wrong, like its wear and tear, It's the characteristics of the car, we have not heard of that happening before ect

Yes, the rear discs were rusty corroded, tram lines, heavily stepped, as I have mentioned had the car 3 months now and have a few bits to do to make it right, spark plugs, brake fluid, mmi screen, hand brake cable housing, tyres, brake discs and pads, fronts to do, just having service done, then sorting out the body work.... Then VCDs kit,,, be happier then

Just a quick update. Still trying to nail down prices but just to keep everyone in the loop. I am discussing prices with a couple of places. Audi seems to have really stopped the large discounts previously available on these. The previous price achieved a couple of years is a pipe dream now, the cost price has gone up plus the discount on these has been capped at 12.5%.

That being said, I am still pretty confident of getting you all a price which will beat anything available online or from a local dealer.

One final thing. The price Stoke Audi have on their parts website for rears is 100% wrong, and I think if you try to order them they will cancel your order and increase the price. Even with a good discount plus the shipping my prices are fractionally more! With regards to the fronts its around the £500 mark a set delivered.

Try Colchester Audi,

In fact I will ask for you if you like - as they already offered them to me for a very good price via my local specialist garage who prep all my cars from Landy to GT3.
