The other day I tried to scan a friends UrS6. I was very pleased with myself, having made a 2x2 adapter for my genuine hex-usb+can cable.
Strangely though, I couldn't connect to the ECU or a couple of other modules. I put it down to it being an old car.
Then I tried with my friends KII usb cable and it connected perfectly to the ECU but not other modules.
This is clearly annoying because I want my cable to work with all cars that it's supposed to be compatible with.
Anyone got any ideas? Is it a parameter thing?

RE: Cable compatabilities
So you tried the same 2x2 adapter with a different OBD2 cable and it worked?
RE: Cable compatabilities
Yes, exactly. With my cable couldn't connect to the ECU, but with the KII cable, no problem. With my cable I was able to reset the service indicator, with the KII cable, it could connect to the instruments but would get rejected for too many communications errors. Weird.
My MacGyver 2x2 adapter worked a treat with both cables
