Trying to find the port on a S3 tonight no joy anone point me in the right direction

Which S3 the new one? If so, it should be to the right, down in the depths of the drivers footwell.

no older 1.8 turbo one looked down that side but it was dark will have another look today

Looks like under the ashtray or near the bonnet pull depending on model year - photos of locations here -
