Newbie on VAG Com

Hi all,

Got the VAG Com 4.0.9 software and usb cable.
After I installed the software as per the instructions, I use a test on the Com3 port and the software mentioned the cable is found (but I didn't even connect the usb cable to the usb port of my notebook)

I then saved the setting and just run any other 5 applications of the software but the program just "freezed" and quit!!

I tried to connect the cable first (it was detected by windows) but the outcome was the same. I even re-installed the software but no luck.

Any clue? (I am using Windows Vista)

IIRC 409 isn't supported on Vista.

VCDS (VAG-COM) 7xx and 8xx work fine on Vista...

onlinesys - since you have VAG-COM 409 I'm guessing you don't have a genuine Ross-Tech lead? The symptoms you describe are typical of a third-party lead...

This is why I always recommend a genuine Ross-Tech lead - you pay more up front, but you pay once!

You are correct! I am using a third party cable given from someone  Did work once or twice but not anymore!!

Will check out at ross-tech.com now.
