Sounds like the right rear door lock has either failed, or if you can hear it clicking then the switch that senses it's position has either failed or got knocked out of alignment.

Micro switch within the locking mechanism has failed and is not communicating with the ecu (there are 3 or 4 within each mechanism). If you are able to strip it and identify the micro switch they are available from Maplins, either that or around £100 from your parts department and an hours labour to replace.

Mine does the same with both drivers side doors. I took the rear lock apart and check it, but it still does the same thing. have a look at this if you're game!!! both my doors work fine, although my door light doesn't come on with the rear door.

Thanks for the replies, guys. It does look like a sensor problem since the door locks / unlocks OK.

@technics100: That's a pretty involved procedure. Are you going to try it in yours? I'll give it a try on a weekend when I've got nothing else to do and no immediate need for the car!

I tried it a few weekends ago, complete nightmare to do. took me the guts of two days to get back together, still get the code. I might try the quick fix at the bottom, as my only visible problem seems to be the lack of lights at the rear door. Also watch very carefully when you pull the lock apart, I was left with a load of bits over the kitchen table and it took ages to figure out where they went..

Good luck

:? Doesn't sound good. Need to see if my interior lights come on or not. Haven't tried.

Why wouldn't they come on? Surely there must be a door ajar sensor rather than central locking?

The sensor for lights on/door ajar is the switch in the lock mechanism.
