May seem a dumb question, you tried pressing the toggle button on the underside of the arm that controls the dis?

In the b5 s4 you can press it and the dis goes out.

Likewise I'm in Sutton and can sort you out one evening / weekend.

If it's not a button press (I was fairly sure that the system returned to default and working each time you switch on/off) - It sounds like it could be a coding option, did the DIS directional arrows / radio station information ever get populated? - If it did and now doesn't it could be a problem with the coding or wiring.
