Recurring DTC's

Hi folks,
I've got an issue with a couple of recurring DTC's (2001 RS4) that I wondered if anyone could give any extra help with.

The first is to do with thermostat which is going to be changed with cambelt service soon, so no probs there.
The other 2 though... 17831 & 17819. Secondary Air Injection System Banks 1 & 2 (code for each).

My sec air pump seems to work fine on startup, and I cant find any leaks with the hoses, but the thing that confuses me is that this is not a cold start fault... the engine management light comes on after about 20 mins/half hour driving - not every time I get in car after clearing the DTC, but after about a week - 10 days.

A little confused here, so any help or ideas from anyone would be appreciated.

Thanks chaps/chapesses :)

Yes, thanks Sebastian - thats where I got the information from to do my initial checks (as above). Now wondering if it could be the MAF...... had a healthcheck a couple of months ago, and all was ok, then Doug had a quick look at VAG COM again on a flying visit a good few weeks ago, but we seemed to think it could be the sec air pump.

You know when you get a feeling about something..... (MAF)

i got a similar code when my precats were taken out that would come back about a week after being reset. the secondary air system can be taken out without causing any other probs if its knackered. :nogarors4:

Thanks Jimbo, what's confused me is that the engine management light comes on after driving for some time - I thought the sec air pump only ran for a few mins after start up?

Mike, yes, I could do - if I knew what to do... lol If you've got the time to explain to me how, I'll give it a go ....

No worries bud. When we can arrange a time that suits, and i'm not ripping my hair out with my new PC, then we'll do some logs.....
