Help needed please!! I have a 97 A3 t sport and i couldnt re-set the abs light. The fault code said abs pump outside specified range. I swapped the abs pump for one from a 1.8 mk golf gti as I was told that they are interchangable. I can now re-set the abs light but it comes back on when I start driving. I still have the same fault code and now it also says that the ecu cant/wont communicate with the abs pump!!! The part numbers are 1JO 614 117 and 1JO 614 217. Does anyone know if I can get the ecu to recognise the new pump and fix the problem?? Thanks Mike

the problem with changing parts from one car to another is that some parts need to be coded to the vehicle, (some can only be coded once).as you have adifference in the part numbers i would'nt risk it, also your fitting a second hand part so you dont know how good that pump was. vag com can code parts for you but unless your familiar with how to do it you could open up a big can of worms
my reccomendation , either buy a new pump .or go to a reputable garage to sort it
