quick question

as we already have vag com 704.1 at work with the HEX-USB+CAN Interface from ross tech. could we buy a cheap interface from ebay and run it on another laptop ,as i believe that it only checks for the liscence on the first install .

Correct, besides that the license is checked on each use a 3rd party interface is not compatible with any version newer than 5xx.
