I'm really shocked at this, as VAG-COM is the same as the VAS system, but Windows based.

Uwe, actually analyses and takes apart the VAS machine and converts it appropriately for the VAG-COM software.

Just out of curiosity, did you try and access any other control module, i.e. engine, ABS?

all the other modules were ok it was just the airbag controller it couldnt connect to :?
i even took sebastians advice and disconnected (well took out the fuse) the ABS controller and still i had no joy.

What version of VAG-COM were you using and what interface hardware? Problems like yours are quite common with 3rd party VAG-COM hardware.

its a genuine KEY USB cable and am using the latest version of VAGCOM sebastian ordered from Ross-tech themselves back in june. Its certainly strange because i connected to the airbag controller in an Audi A2 and VW polo no problems , and yet it wouldnt connect to mine or my brothers B5 RS4. :?

Last time I scanned my car (the other week), KEY USB cable and latest release version of software at the time it wouldn't connect to my airbag controller. I am sure it has before as I needed to get rid of the airbag light.

Uwe scratches his head. We're not aware of any issues inherent in VAG-COM or the KEY-USB interface that would cause this.

Dhali and Graham S4: Please e-mail me with as much detail as possible. Include the serial number and firmware version of your KU (serial number is on the label, firmware version will be reported if you do Options -> Test with the interface plugged into the car). My e-mail is Uwe@Ross-Tech.com

We have the ideal opportunity to try a few interfaces at the weekend Graham. I have a USB+CAN lead, see if that works better
