Hi guys

Not sure if this post should be in here or electrical section sorry if wrong!

I have a S4 (B5) 2000 avant and the alarm is going off intermitantly for no reason. I have checked DTCs with vag com and the following errors are appearing

01370 - Alarm triggered by Interior monitoring
35-00--
01134 - Alarm horn (H12) 76-00- Terminal 30 missing

and 01384 - alarm triggered by glass breakage sensor
35-00--

I have lowered the sensitivity level of the senors with vag com with still no luck. Alarm siren has not worked since had car but this has not happened before?

Any ideas?

Thanks
Brad

I have also read that you can disable the alarm (assume imbolisor is still active?) by re-coding the Central Locking control unit so that it doesn't think it's an Anti-Theft Alarm System equipped model? If it cannot be easily resolved then I will do this as a temporary fix until resolved. Does anybody have the codes for

Central Locking Only
Central Locking + Anti Theft Alarm
Central Locking + Remote
Central Locking + Remote + Alarm

for a 99/00 S4?

Thanks
Brad

i'm confused, if the siren hasn't worked since you've had the car how do you know it's going off intermittently?

Hazzards keep flashing! :( It is only started happening the past week or so. I have no water leak ( have read that this can cause the alarm to go off) as cleared bulkhead holes back last year and carpets are dry.

Also the alarm being activated keeps appearing as a DTC in log.

Thanks

the alarm is in the right hand well in the boot along with the controller, have you checked in there for water?

No. Is it under the triangle etc in the cubby hole? I will have a look at the weekend. What would cause water in there is there a drain hole that could be blocked?

Thanks
Brad

indeed, or a leaking rear light, boot seal etc. the bottom of the cubby hole lifts out and you should be able to see the siren bolted to the boot floor and the controller is in the foam packing just behind the wheel arch

I have code 01134 but it says alarm horn 49-00 no communications
what could this be? it would be nice if it stated that there is a dead fuse or a break in cable/earth fault or something

no communication generally means the battery has died in the alarm, new alarm siren required, £60 to 70 at the stealers, when you change it get three rolls of wire, chop the plug off and move it under the bonnet. at least you'll be able to hear it then

thanks dave! do you know if there is a 'hot to' for changing the siren?

it's a doddle, siren is in the R/H side well in the boot, bolted to the floor with one bolt. once you have the bolt undone there's a 3 pin plug to unplug. the new siren comes with a slightly different method of mounting so you might have to fabricate a bracket however i moved mine under the bonnet to allow the noise to escape easier so the bracket was immaterial anyway. just cut the plug off the cable, extend the wires with the aforementioned 3 rolls of wire, wrap them in insulating tape to make a loom and thread them through to the engine compartment either through the bottom of the ECU box or the grommet for the bonnet cable, job done

checked the siren location and not wet and siren plugged in ok. I also have the 01134 code as well as all the others I have now noticed so looks like my siren is dead as well. Could this be the cause of the other codes as well?

Thanks,
Brad

most of the codes you have are fairly normal, just showing which sensor has triggered the alarm.

cheers Dave

Anybody know what these codes mean ie which sensors , passenger side /drivers side front or rear?

Thanks,
Brad

im starting to think the codes are brought about by VAGcom itself when it does the tests to make sure the sensors are working. I can clear all my fault codes, then run another check straight away and the same ones about alarm triggered by xxsensor are back again. Maybe VAGcom tests all the sensors which makes the alarm record that they have been activated?
