I get this message when trying to read the "Auto HVAC" module (I am trying to investigate a heating/climate control problem)

Anyone else had this error message?

I think I might get a similar thing come up on mine when I try to run something in the HVAC. Can't remember what it was though just that it crashes out when running something specific to do with the air-con.

It was a mate who was playing with VAG-COM on my car at the time... I'll try and find you out more details if needed.

HVAC modules in those cars are exceedingly fussy about protocol timing.

Try the tips here:
http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/faq_2.html#2.5

If nothing there solves it, let us know what version of VAG-COM you're using, what kind of PC, and what kind of interface.

According to the guys at Ross-Tech my problem is typical of 3rd party cables. I am going to bite the bullet and buy a "proper" cable and license from Ross-Tech. As usual, you get what you pay for...
