Mate has just bought an S3 (8L)

The ESP light is on the and garage he bought it from says this happened after the battery went flat and the AA gave it a jump.

I plug VAGCOM into it and under the ABS section it had the following fault

Lateral Acceleration Sensor (G200)
Electrical Circuit Failure

Now, I cleared the code (in VAGCOM), but it instantly came back.

The garage over here says that only Audi Dealerships can clear this fault??!?!?

No. fix the fault and the fault indicator will stay off

Agreed. Although you may have to calibrate the sensor after fixing the fault.
