hello everyone
I have just downloaded vag-com 409.1 and got a cable so I can see what fault codes Iv'e got (the airbag light won't go out anymore

before I go and get stiffed by the stealers.
This might be a dumb question but where is the connection in the car? I have got a 99 S plate (pre face lift).
cheers
Ronald

Hi Ronald.
Can i have a big mac!!!
Sorry, had to get it in!
Plug can be found in the rear ashtray.
Have you checked the connections under the seats, as these seem to give some grief from time to time.
Welcome to the site,
If you search the site, you will find a couple of threads on airbag faults

lol thanks mikeyquattro, I just had a look around the ashtray and there it is!
yup, i searched the threads and saw about the seat airbag connectors sometimes needing a bit of a clean - I prised the red block connectors out (from under the front seats) but not much to clean although there is a yellow block connector next to them which i couldnt figure out how to release without breaking it
I didn'y know whether or not the code (if there is one) needs resetting but I guess once the cable arrives I can capture the codes, reset and see where we are..

I had the seat out of mine once to repair it, didn't have to reset the fault, it cleared itself. Have you got heated seats?
The bottom of the plug wraps around the outside of the top part. It's a bit fiddly but it does come apart

Well I didn't take the seat out - just raised it up but I think it would be a lot easier with the seat out because you need mini hands otherwise. No, no heated seats unfortunately (or if they are Ive never seen how to use them!). When I get the vagcom rigged up hopefully it will tell me if its the seat airbags of if the airbag ecu is fried
