I seem to have lost my auto locking function. It was working fine but doesn't lock me in anymore when I'm driving. I'm not exactly sure when it stopped working or how. All I've done recently is fit my phatbox, play around with the radio/sat nav settings and insert a new 2006 sat nav cd.

Firstly, does anybody know what I might have done to stop it working?

Secondly, anybody know how to make it work again ... the manual says that Audi can do it for me but I thought there might be an easy way to reset it.

It's not really a problem as it'll be getting serviced in a couple of months time ... it's just annoying that it did work and now it doesn't .

From memory, this has to be done via Vagcom. Don't think you select it any other way.

I'm guessing that your car is July 2003 production, or earlier (up to VIN 4B3N099686).

Since the control module was changed, I've had no further problems.

Prior to that, the auto lock would cease working every two or three months. The only way to re-enable it was to use VAG-COM to clear the setting (yes, the appropriate bit was still set), and set it again.

You may find that you have to be quite insistent about the fault - depends on how cooperative your dealer is. Mine denied all knowledge of the problem until I presented them with the printout from ELSA. Of course, I had to be a little evasive over my source for the information!

ELSA is the electronic service documentation used throughout the VAG group.

Well it looks like my auto locking wasn't lost ... it's just been on a short holiday as it seems to have started working again. The only thing I can think of is that it stopped working around the time I changed the 2002 sat nav disc to this years one. Today I was messing around with the sat nav system putting in destinations to memory etc and a few hours later all is back to normal???

Haven't got a clue as to what exactly happened but it's all working so I'm a happy chap At least I won't have to wrestle with Audi customer services come service time.

Oooo, I never waited long enough to find out whether it came back of its own accord - I just got VAG-COM out and reset it!

Anyway, I'm sure that you'll find that it goes awol again before too long!
