Has anybody relocated their OBD port?
I want to do this because according to my info when anybody tries to steal the car they turn off the alarm with a laptop and vag-com.
When they can't find the connector it just makes it harder for the thieves to steal the car.
According to my info it can be done in under 1 minute!
(I have also ordered an english door handle for my LHD car,no lock so no forcing that either)

As a suggestion - perhaps leave the OBD port where it is but trace the wiring back and disconnect one or more wires (and then you reconnect them when necessary)? Not sure if this is possible?

It's easy enough to do - it is just held in by a couple of clips that form part of the connector itself - you could hide it out of the way, or feed it up into the armrest, I guess.
IIRC correctly (I had to dismantle the whole area when I fitted my armrest) the wires for the OBDII forms part of the cable harness that supplies the 'handbrake on' switch, so you would have to separate them.

Don't you need the ignition on to use VAG-COM through the OBD port?
Hmmm, we should probably not go into this in too much detail on a public forum, me thinks!

It might be worth noting that when I was unable to make any connection with VAG-COM it turned out that a fuse had blown! I guess that leaving the fuse out would be sufficient to confuse the thieves! As far as I can determine, that fuse does nothing other than supplying power to the OBD socket.
Obviously, you would need to re-insert the fuse when the car goes in to the dealers!
