Got the following
Vagcom codes on my RS4...
17866 - Exhaust Gas Temp Sensor 2 (G236): Short to Ground
17869 - Exhaust Gas Temp Regulation for Bank 1 : Implausible Signal
Anyone know what they mean?

Nope, but I can have a good guess that your EGT sensor is dead. Maybe if you're lucky it is just a wiring fault, but that would tend to be intermittent.

Whatever they are, your performance and fuel economy will be shot. Checking earthings etc. Clear the codes and see what happens after driving the car. The sensors are the same P/N so you can buy one and swap it between the two to identify bad earth etc...

I've had these before, and IIRC they just went away. No sign of decreased power/economy.

I had a right bank exhaust sensor earth fault (not intermittent). It was the really awkward bugger that sits so close to the turbo that the turbo must be removed to get it out. I did not realise the performance was crap until I changed it....so I guess it depends is the fault is genuine or not.
