I replaced a rear light a couple of weeks ago when it was out. All OK for a day or so then kept popping faults on dash but bulb seemed OK, but replaced it again, still no good.
Then, the rear sensors started playing up, followed by yesterday, when I turned my lights on whilst driving engine power/revs, just went!! As soon as I came of gas and pressed again it was OK.
So I figure its a short or bad earth so got it on VCDS today and the following faults popped up:
Engine:
16955 - Brake Switch (F)
P0571 - 008 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent
Auto trans:
17087 - Brake Switch (F)
P0703 - 35-10 - Electrical Malfunction - Intermittent
ABS Brakes:
00526 - Brake Light Switch (F)
27-10 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent
I have done a quick search and a brake switch is only a few quid but appears to be located deep behind dash. Any ideas?

If the brake switch is intermittent then if it signals to the engine ECU that the brake pedal is pressed then the engine ECU will kill the throttle.
Looks like you need a new brake switch to me.

Nope, replaced the brake light switch, problem persisted. Ended up being simple - single terminal bulb sat in a twin terminal socket..... Ooooopppppsss!
